Rules of Conduct and Discipline

A. CODE OF CONDUCT AND INFORMATION FOR THE PARENTS

  • Prior to seeking admission to this school the parents are instructed to be familiar with the prospectus of the school. They must read and study the terms and conditions, rules and regulations, and the code of conduct for the students and parents who will be associated with this school. Ignorance of the rules and regulations, terms and conditions will not in any way justify its violation.
  • All those who seek admission of their students in this school are bound to sign an affidavit after going through the prospectus of the school that they are willing to abide by the terms and conditions inscribed in it as a precondition for taking the admission.
  • The school is established, owned and administered by the Ropar Holy Family registered charitable society, primarily to cater to the educational needs of its minority community members. Therefore, the parents who take admission of their students in this school should respect the right of the Christian minority community members who play a major and primary role in the administration of the school.
  • Being an unaided minority educational institution its administration is entirely with the Christian minority registered society as per the provisions of the Supreme Constitution of India.
  • The school enjoys its administrative freedom as provided by the Supreme Constitution of India in its Articles 29, 30 (1) which grants autonomy of administrative powers to minority educational institutions.
  • Admissions of students, fee structure, appointment, disciplinary action against the employees, dismissal of the employees, etc. are as per the administrative powers endowed on the minority institutions in conformity with the provisions of the Supreme Constitution of India, for minority educational institutions.
  • The school welcomes any suggestion and advice which is positive and constructive for the welfare of the children and better functioning of the school. But, however, the management reserves its right to accept or reject such suggestions. It is left to the prerogative of the management to implement such suggestions remaining within the administrative purview of the minority rights.
  • Being an unaided minority private school, the administration of the school is entirely under the provisions of the Articles 29 & 30 (1) of the Supreme Constitution of India which grants autonomy to the minorities to administer its own educational institutions without undue interference from any unconstitutional external forces.
  • Those parents who cause any agitation and incite others to do so against the school or join with any anti-social element to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the school forfeit the right to continue teaching their children in this school. Their children will be rusticated without giving any other reason.
  • The parents must sign a self-declaration at the time of taking admission of their children that they would send them only by such transportation which is run in accordance with the "safe-school vahan" policy of the Government to ensure the safety of their children.
  • Parents are strictly forbidden to send their children to the school by vehicles which do not run in compliance with the traffic regulations of Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana high court on children's safety.
  • Since the school does not own its own vehicles for the transportation of all the students who take admission in this school, the parents are instructed to make their own arrangements with private vehicle owners or transporters.
  • The transportation of the children to and from the School is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders.
  • The management has the right to take disciplinary action against students/parents who do not comply with school-rules and requirements.
  • The parents are requested to contact the school office in the month of March, before the beginning of the new academic year to know the fee structure of the coming year.
  • Being an unaided minority educational institution, the school is not bound to constitute a Parents association with members from the majority community to be involved in the administrative matters of the school.
  • All major decisions of administrative matters are taken by the Governing Body of the registered society which runs the school in consultation with the Local Managing Committee in which the representatives of the parents and teachers are members.
  • Parents and guardians are not permitted to walk into class-rooms or interview teachers without the permission of the Principal.
  • All letters and correspondence addressed to pupils are subject to the scrutiny of the Principal.
  • The school is not responsible for articles or money lost. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches, fountain pens, etc.) to school.
  • Parents are requested to refrain from disturbing the teaching staff of the school with any school matters outside the school hours unless the matter is very serious and urgent in nature.

B. CODE OF CONDUCT AND INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF

  • Students are expected to reach the school campus five to ten minutes before the first bell for morning assembly. Those who are late must obtain permission from the concerned person in charge.
  • The students are not permitted to arrive too early to the school campus.
  • Once a student has entered the school campus, he/she will not be allowed to leave the campus without obtaining the gate pass from the competent authority.
  • All pupils are expected to be present for the assembly during which they pray together.
  • The attendance will be marked in the attendance register at the beginning of the two sessions.
  • Any student whose transportation facility is delayed should inform the matter to the school office.
  • Students should be proactive in promoting a friendly school atmosphere.
  • Every student should bring the school diary daily to the school to facilitate communication with parents and teachers.
  • Students who are sick should not come to the school to take the examination during the exams days.
  • A total of 80% school attendance is compulsory to be eligible to sit for the examinations.
  • Equal importance will be given to the academic progress and the character formation of every student.
  • The Progress report/Proficiency profile record will be prepared after considering personality traits.
  • It is compulsory for the students to read a specified number of books from the Library in each term.
  • All letters and correspondence addressed to pupils are subject to the scrutiny of the Principal.
  • Students are forbidden to bring to the school items that are unrelated to school activities without permission.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Each student must possess two identity cards issued by the school.
  • No physical or verbal violence is permitted in the school.
  • The school has constituted an internal complaints committee (ICC) to look into any sexual or physical harassment of the students or employees in the school.

Use of Library

  • Strict discipline and silence is to be observed in the library and reading room.
  • Library books will be issued to the senior classes, which can be returned only during Library period.
  • Marking, underlining, cutting, erasing, or damaging pages of the books are strictly prohibited.
  • Periodicals/Magazines are to be read in the Library/Reading Room only.

General Hints to Help You Study Better

  • Take up first the subject you most dislike; once you have done this, the rest of your work will be easy.
  • Do not hesitate to ask your teacher or your clever companions things you do not grasp clearly.
  • To make sure that you have understood something thoroughly use these tricks: a) Pretend that you are explaining the lesson to another. b) Make yourself your own teacher and question yourself.

Warning Cards

  • The child who gets 5 Warning cards for the same reason: A notice of information will be sent to the parents, and a fine of Rs.100/- will be imposed.
  • The child who gets 10 Warning cards showing different reasons: A fine of Rs.150/- will be imposed.

Particular Helps

  • Never omit doing the assigned home-work.
  • Always revise the work done in class and ensure you understand everything clearly and thoroughly.

You Can Be Proud of Your Child If You Care for Her/Him

  • Good education is the joint effort of the school and the parents.
  • Parents are advised to allow the children to watch only educational and useful programmes on TV.
